5th Asia Pacific Consultation on Refugee Rights (APCRR5) Report

APCRR5 was held in Bangkok, Thailand from September 2- 4, 2014 and brought together 140 participants from 21 countries, who contributed to stimulating and fruitful discussions.

APCRR5 discussed emerging issues and consisted of a series of workshops aimed at good practice sharing, identifying key priorities, and joint action planning. This year’s focus was also on operationalising APRRN’s Vision for Regional Protection and APCRR5 served as a platform to consult with members on priorities for the Plan of Action to achieve the Vision, as well as the Research and Consultations Strategy. On Day 2, the different APRRN Working Groups also had the opportunity to meet during APCRR5 and to review and reprioritise their action plans. On Day 3, the consultation provided the opportunity to formulate concrete recommendations and plans for inclusion in APRRN’s Strategic and Operational Plan. Steering Committee elections and governance matters were also discussed during the AGM for members on the final day.
