Malaysia: Movement Control Order- How are Refugees Coping?: Interview with Lilianne Fan

Key impacts of the MCO include the loss of livelihoods, which has threatened basic food security and left many unable to pay rent and thus at risk of evictions. Lilianne Fan additionally highlights that despite free testing for all foreigners, many refugees are still in fear of being arrested for coming forward due to not having access to these updates and important information in their native languages. There are further calls for a legal framework to be developed for refugees to provide documentation, which would make it easier to trace communities and enable access to basic services e.g. health, education and employment.
