The Short Course on Advocacy and Refugee Rights took place from 1-4 December 2015 in Bangkok, Thailand. The overall aim of the course was to build a new generation of refugee rights activists and strengthen advocacy skills. The course this year aimed to strengthen participants’ capacity, expertise and knowledge in advocating for the rights of refugees in Asia.
This year, thirty participants—NGO workers, researchers, post-graduate students, refugees and policy advocates—from nine countries and a variety of backgrounds joined the course. Thank you to Leeanne Torpey from the International Detention Coalition (IDC), Brian Barbour from the Japan Association for Refugees and Mike Hayes from the Institute for Human Rights and Peace Studies at Mahidol University for facilitating lectures and group activities. Finally, a big thank you to everyone who joined us this year!
